POAS
VOLCANO & SARCHI ARTSANS
This 6500ha national park is one of the
oldest and best known in Costa Rica.
The
centerpiece is Poas Volcano (2704m) with a
crater !.3 km wide and 300m deep.
Recently
there have been three major periods of
activity; 1888 to 1895, 1903 to 1912 and
1952 to 1954.Occasionally geyser eruptions
take place, but mostly the crater is a
bubbling and steaming cauldron that does not
pose any threat.
Poas second crater, Laguna
Botos (Lake Botos) is a lake surrounded by
dwarf cloud forest.
This unique forest is
home to various species of birds among wich
you will find humming birds, Toucans and
many others.
Departs 7am, 9am, 12:00pm and 2:30pm
